Mustello Announces State Funding for Water, Sewer, Transportation Projects in Butler County
January 20, 2026
BUTLER COUNTY - Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) announced today nearly $1.4 million in state funding has been approved for local water, sewer and transportation projects through the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund.
“These grants help communities address aging infrastructure and improve public safety while reducing costs for local taxpayers,” Mustello said. “Whether it’s upgrading sewer systems or repairing roads, these projects help make sure residents have dependable services and safer streets every day.”
The following projects received funding:
• Saxonburg Area Authority:
$489,558 to replace two remaining vitrified clay sewer lines on Carol Drive and Beatty Drive with PVC pipe. The project will reduce stormwater infiltration, extend the life of the wastewater system and free up capacity equivalent to more than 100 homes.
• Clearfield Township:
$500,000 to reconstruct 2.6 miles of Clearfield Road. The project includes replacing culverts and inlets, resurfacing the road, and improving drainage to create a safer, more reliable roadway.
• Oakland Township:
$400,000 for road enhancement and preservation projects. The work will improve road surfaces, address drainage issues and enhance travel safety for residents.
The Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program awards grants to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water, and flood control projects with a cost of not less than $30,000 and not more than $500,000. Funds may be used toward construction, improvement, expansion, or rehabilitation or repair of a water supply system, sanitary sewer system, storm sewer system, or flood control projects.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available to the residents of the Commonwealth. Funds may be used for the development, rehabilitation and enhancement of transportation assets to existing communities, streetscape, lighting, sidewalk enhancement, pedestrian safety, connectivity of transportation assets, and transit-oriented development.
The grants were approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which administers both the Pennsylvania Small Water and Sewer Program and the Multimodal Transportation Fund to support infrastructure, recreation and community development projects across Pennsylvania.
