Mustello Announces $1.4 Million PENNVEST Loan for Chicora Borough Waterline Project

July 15, 2026

BUTLER – Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) on Wednesday announced Chicora Borough Council will receive a $1.4 million low-interest loan from the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) to support vital water system improvements in Butler County.

The loan will be used to install 6,000 feet of new waterline of various diameters. The project will also include new residential meter pits, meters and service connections; fire hydrant replacements; isolation valves in the work areas; full replacement of the waterline beneath Buffalo Creek; and valve vault modifications at the borough’s water tank site in Donegal Township.

“This funding will help Chicora Borough make the kinds of water system upgrades that are essential to reliable service and public safety,” said Mustello. “Replacing aging waterlines, improving hydrant access and updating service connections will strengthen the system for residents, businesses and emergency responders.”

PENNVEST provides financial assistance in the form of grants and low-interest loans for the design, engineering and construction of publicly and privately owned drinking water, storm water, and wastewater facilities across Pennsylvania.
