HARRISBURG – The Butler County Area Vocational-Technical School will receive a $20,700 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), according to Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler).

The Career and Technical Education Equipment grant is for the purchase of new equipment aligned to training students in high-demand occupations. In addition, the grant is to purchase equipment aligned with the needs of local employers for use in PDE-approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and to provide hands-on training to students in those programs.

“CTE is one of the most important parts of the modern American education system,” said Mustello. “CTE has a proven history of preparing students for high-demand careers that help them live their lives to the fullest.”

Under the program, the maximum grant is $50,000, and each grant must be matched dollar-for-dollar from a local source which could include local school funds or contributions from businesses and industry partners.

“CTE allows students to combine learning with real-world experiences—and develop crucial academic, technical and employability skills,” said Mustello.

Almost $1.2 million in competitive grants were awarded to 32 career and technical centers and Area Vocational-Technical Education Schools across the state.
