BUTLER – To assist residents in the 11th District who qualify for Property Tax/Rent Rebate, Rep. Marci Mustello (R-Butler) today announced that her office will be hosting three free workshops to help constituents who are 65 years or older, widows and widowers 50 years or older, and those 18 years or older with disabilities file the necessary application.
The first workshop will take place on Monday, March 30, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Summit Township Building, located at 502 Bonniebrook Drive in Butler.
The second workshop will be held on Friday, April 3, from 9 a.m. to noon, at Cindy’s Place located at 125 North Main St. in Chicora.
Prospect will be the site for a third workshop on Wednesday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Prospect Borough Building, 159 Monroe St.
“These workshops are a great opportunity for people who are eligible for Property Tax/Rent Rebate assistance to have the forms completed and filed by my office staff,” said Mustello. “We will also answer any questions about the process. Applicants should be prepared to provide all the necessary income, property tax or rental information required to process claims quickly and accurately.”
Income eligibility limits for homeowners are set at the following levels, excluding 50% of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and Railroad Retirement Tier 1 benefits:
• $0 to $8,000, maximum $650 rebate (homeowners and renters).
• $8,001 to $15,000, maximum $500 rebate (homeowners and renters).
• $15,001 to $18,000, maximum $300 rebate (homeowners only).
• $18,001 to $35,000, maximum $250 rebate (homeowners only).
The deadline to apply for rebates and property taxes paid in 2019 is June 30.
